Delaware Academy Central School District at Delhi’s vision is that it will be a leader in academic excellence, preparing students to excel in a diverse and dynamic society. This vision is the driving force behind supporting our students with disabilities.

The driving goal of the Special Education Department at Delaware Academy is to provide each student with the individualized services, supports, and programming that they need to be successful. Through partnership with parents, teachers, administrators, and related service providers we strive to achieve excellence in teaching and learning for every one of our students.

 The Special Education Department provides services for students who qualify for an Individualized Education Program (IEP) through the Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) or the Committee on Special Education (CSE).  Services and accommodations are available to students who meet the eligibility requirements under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504. A full continuum of program options are available to meet the needs of individuals in the least restrictive environment.

Programs are located in both buildings within Delaware Academy Central School District at Delhi. District placements allow opportunities for students to be mainstreamed with their typical peers according to individual strengths and interests. Opportunities to integrate within the school program are abundant. In some cases an out of district placement might be the most appropriate setting to meet the needs of an individual.

Special education also includes related services that are developmental, corrective, and supportive.  These related services include, but are not limited to, speech-language therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and counseling services. All services are provided at no cost to parents.
